OCTOPUZ, a Waterloo, Ont.–based maker of robot programming software, has been acquired by ESAB Group Canada.
The move will add the offline robot programming brand to the ESAB digital portfolio, offering complementary technology to ESAB’s welding automation offering.
OCTOPUZ will operate as an independent team within ESAB and continue to provide software solutions and technical support.
The current OCTOPUZ management team will remain intact, as will the existing sales, customer success, application engineering, technical support and development teams to ensure consistency going forward with OCTOPUZ customers.
OCTOPUZ recently introduced a next-generation robot programming experience for creating, modifying and transforming path and search statements, and improved user workflows for welding, cutting, machining and additive manufacturing processes.
“We are incredibly excited to join the ESAB family as we continue our journey to change the way that industrial robots are programmed,” says the company in a statement.
“ESAB’s domain expertise, global reach and commitment to continued investment will help to accelerate our progress in providing an ever-improving solution for our customers.”
ESAB is a global producer of welding and cutting equipment and consumables.
