Siemens Digital Industries Software is making some of its services free in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

In an open letter, CEO Tony Hemmelgarn says the changing nature of work during this period is an opportunity for the digital industries community to learn new skills. The company is working with customers to enable home use of some of its products.

Effective immediately and for the duration of the COVID-19 impact, Siemens is offering free 30-day subscriptions to its online learning memberships, which offer access to video-based learning, labs and training content for Siemens solutions.

The company also has a free version of its Mendix application development platform, and is offering solutions free of charge to students and start-up companies.

Students and instructors can also access a free 12-month license of the student edition of Mentor PADS Professional PCB design software for engineers.

“We feel a responsibility to apply the power of our ecosystem to creating innovative solutions for global issues including sustainability and the coronavirus pandemic,” Hemmelgarn says.
