Apr. 23, 2018 – Mahr, a provider of dimensional measurement solutions, says it has signed a cooperation agreement with NanoFocus, a German manufacturer of 3D surface metrology, which will expand its portfolio with optical metrology.

Starting in May 2018, Mahr will be offering confocal microscopes from NanoFocus as the new Mahr product family, MarSurf CM. The new devices will be presented at Control 2018 taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, from April 24 – 27, 2018.

A member of the Mahr Group, Mahr Inc. has been providing dimensional measurement solutions for more than 150 years. The company manufactures and markets a variety of dimensional metrology equipment. It also produces custom-designed gages and provides calibration and contract measurement services. It explains that optical measurement technology is becoming “increasingly important for many applications due to its high measurement speed and accuracy.”

The confocal 3D surface measurement systems of the new MarSurf CM product range are used in medical technology, the automotive industry, materials management or by manufacturers of electrical engineering. According to the parties, the optical measuring systems have several advantages: in addition to the high measurement speed, they work independently of the material and without contact for sensitive surfaces.

“NanoFocus has been the technology leader in confocal, optical 3D surface metrology for more than 20 years and has a high level of innovation,” says Ulrich Kaspar, Mahr managing director. “That’s why NanoFocus is the right partner for us.”
