April 10, 2019 – The HAHN Group, which acquired Rethink Robotics in November 2018, says it plans to continue development of the defunct robot company's Sawyer collaborative robot (cobot).

The HAHN Group is exhibiting at Automate 2019 in Chicago this week (running April 8 to 11, 2019), where participants can meet experts from Rethink Robotics to learn more about the future of the Sawyer robot and Intera software.

"Sawyer stands for simplicity, and speed of programming. Within the new setup of the company, Rethink Robotics GmbH plans to improve the reliability," says Philipp Unterhalt, managing director of the HAHN Group and interim CEO of Rethink Robotics, in a release.

Going forward, Rethink Robotics GmbH plans to expand Sawyer into an entire robot family, including models with a higher load capacity as well as simpler models with less equipment. Service robots will complete the portfolio in the future.

In addition, the HAHN Group is showcasing innovations from HAHN Automation in assembly, processes integration and end-of-line testing. HAHN Automation’s assembly integrated EOLT solutions include robots, transfer systems, turn tables and linear transfer handlings as well as manual workstations for dynamic testing of combustion engines. With an EOLT solution that offers a production-friendly HMI design with a PLC interface, HAHN is showing only 30 seconds of cycle time for loading and unloading.

WALTHER Systemtechnik, also part of the HAHN Group, is showing its conveying, dosing, spraying and pulsing systems.
