March 13, 2019 – Schneider Electric has joined the Cybersecurity Coalition, a collection of companies that assists government policy makers in developing the cybersecurity ecosystem.

The coalition is based in Washington, D.C. and works to support the development and adoption of cybersecurity innovations. Member companies include Cisco, McAfee, Intel and Symantec, among others.

As a member of the coalition, Schneider Electric, which specializes in digital transformation, operates in more than 100 countries, will explore and help improve how government agencies and regulatory bodies, international standards bodies, security researchers, vendors, partners and customers work together to tackle cybersecurity risks.

"Our membership ensures we have a focused seat at the table to initiate open, transparent and collaborative conversations that advance the adoption of cybersecurity policies and laws for the benefit of our customers, partners and all stakeholders across our extended enterprise, including the communities and environments we mutually serve," says Hervé Coureil, chief digital officer, Schneider Electric.

Christophe Blassiau, chief information security officer of Schneider Electric, says, "Working with our global ecosystem of partners, we will continue to push forward both enterprise security and cybersecurity at the convergence of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT)."

Schneider Electric has implemented its own Cybersecurity by Design strategy that follows the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, which outlines five areas of concern when it comes to securing a digital system: 1) Identify risks; 2) Protect with digital enforcing mechanisms; 3) Detect and monitor incidents; 4) Respond to threats immediately; and 5) Recover with learnings from events and by revisiting cybersecurity strategy on an ongoing basis.
