WSIB to award small businesses for health and safety leadership

Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is accepting applications for its 2020 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards.
This year, the awards recognize Ontario’s small businesses that showed exemplary health and safety during the pandemic and went the extra mile to keep their employees and customers safe.
Applications must describe the health and safety initiatives that made the workplace safe, and helped employees feel confident about to returning to work.
The top three businesses receive monetary prizes of $5,000 (gold), $3,000 (silver), $2,000 (bronze), as well as recognition at a ceremony in November. The first-place winner will also be featured in a promotional video.
The 2019 winners were Hawkins Contracting Services Limited in Stouffville (gold), Clearview Window Cleaning in Thunder Bay (silver) and Double AA Metal Roofing Inc. in Belle River (bronze).
Any Ontario business with fewer than 50 employees is eligible and applications for the 2020 awards can be completed online through the WSIB website. Businesses have until October 5, 2020 to apply.
