April 21, 2025, Auburn, Maine — Physik Instrumente (PI) USA has introduced a new series of motorized, direct-drive ball bearing rotary stages for 360-degree ultra-high precision rotation applications.

The V-625, V-623 and V-622 series of rotary stages are designed to meet the demands of applications requiring highly precise rotary motion, as well as high torque, speed and payload-carrying capacity.

This is achieved through the use of friction-free, high performance torque motors and ultra-precise, deep-groove ball bearings that are preloaded and lubricated before delivery, with the intent of maintenance-free operation with continuous 360-degree travel for the entire lifetime of the rotation stage, the company reported in a press statement.

Each of the rotary stages in the series have features and options that allow for integration into multi-axis motion systems, sub-systems, and machines.

They are designed with precision, high stiffness, long lifetime, and ease of use in mind. These stages can be mounted in any orientation and provide superior performance in terms of travel accuracy, flatness, and wobble, the company reported in a media release.

Additionally, an optional absolute encoder is available, which provides explicit position information and eliminates the need for referencing when powering the rotary stage up, increasing both efficiency and safety during operation.
