Omron acquires motion control firm

Aug. 18, 2015 – Omron Corp. has announced that it will acquire a 100 per cent stake in Delta Tau Data Systems, making it a member of the Omron Group. The acquisition is expected to close early next month.

According to Omron, the move is part of the company’s strategy to promote its development of factory automation technology and strengthen its sales capability in the control device business.

“Merging products and technologies of both companies will also enable delivery of optimized motion control solutions globally through combined distribution networks,” said Omron representatives.

With headquarters in Chatsworth, Calif., DT is a control device company. The manufacturer is said to have powerful development and systems integration capabilities that enabled the company to develop, manufacture, and market what is widely recognized as the world’s highest level motion controller, dubbed “PMAC.”

Through the acquisition, Omron aims to reinforce its technology development and engineering capabilities in the field of motion control designed to drive manufacturing equipment.
