SICK, a leading manufacturer of sensors, safety systems, machine vision and automatic identification products for factory and logistics automation, has joined the PROFIBUS/PROFINET Trade Association (PTO) North America. The PTO is dedicated to showing industry the beneficial results of using fieldbuses, specifically PROFIBUS and PROFINET, and assisting device manufacturers throughout North America in the development and marketing of PROFIBUS and PROFINET products.

As a member of the PTO, SICK is dedicated to reducing the overall cost of customers’ machines and processes by enabling them to build a less complex system with better diagnostic functionality and reduced wiring over the entire machine or process. As a result, customers are able to start up/commission a system faster and at reduced costs. The PTO will serve as a valuable resource as SICK continues to launch a wide range of PROFIBUS/PROFINET capable products to its customers.

The PTO is the non-profit, member-supported automation organization for communication solutions. Covering North America, PTO is one of 25 regional associations that make up PI (PROFIBUS and PROFINET International). Members of the PTO include vendors of hardware, software and systems as well as end users and operators, scientific institutes, universities, distributors, and system integrators.
