Chrysler’s assembly plant in Windsor, Ont., is shutting down until the middle of next week due to a parts shortage.

CAW Local 444 president Rick Laporte says the plant operated on short shifts on Wednesday and Thursday. The plant will then be shut down Friday through Tuesday because it is struggling to get some parts.

Laporte says there were parts problems all through the summer, partly due to the tsunami in Japan.

He says the plant will be back to normal operation next Wednesday.
