Partners in Prevention 2011, Canada’s largest health and safety conference and trade show, took place at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont., last month, bringing together more than 4,500 health and safety professionals. Manufacturing AUTOMATION was there, co-moderating a machine safety panel discussion with sister publication, Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. The panelists included cross-industry thought leaders with both legal and technology expertise, offering their insights to help attendees keep their workplaces and machinery safe.

Doug Nix, managing director at Compliance InSight Consulting Inc., discussed risk assessment and design standards. Kartik Vashi, application and product specialist with Schmersal Canada Ltd., discussed six steps to turn workplaces into safe places. Finally, Ian A. Bergeron, safety professional and paralegal with Stringer Brisbin Humphrey Management Lawyers, presented the legal side of machine safety.
