Nokia has launched its first cloud-native industrial edge solution – Nokia MX Industrial Edge. With this solution, the company intends to aid operational technology (OT) digitalization initiatives of enterprises and facilitate their journey to Industry 4.0.

The new edge platform is a scalable application and compute solution that is built to meet the mission-critical digital transformation needs of asset-intensive industries, including manufacturing. Nokia MX Industrial Edge combines compute, storage, wired/wireless networking, one-click industrial applications and automated management onto a unified, on-premise OT digital transformation platform.

Digitalization and connectivity of equipment, machines and other assets in industrial facilities is key to making the journey to Industry 4.0. Edge processing is becoming a necessity due to the volume and velocity in which data is generated.

The Nokia MX Industrial Edge offers an on-premise cloud architecture that unifies edge requirements in a deploy everywhere, as-a-service package. The platform’s scalability allows multi-facility enterprises to deploy the same technology in all their locations, whether large or small. The Nokia MX Industrial Edge is powered by the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (Nokia DAC), offering users a single pane of glass user experience.
