Four tips for a sustainable beverage plant
Aug. 22, 2017 - Considering sustainability characteristics of your beverage plant conveying system? Whether your application is in the glass bottle filling, high-speed can filling, or can and glass container manufacturing, there are four key areas that should be given attention.
1) Maximize safety
Safety is the entry level to sustainability. Potential safety hazards on product lines often include slippery floors, increased noise levels, and high-speed moving parts in machinery and conveyors.
2) Optimize products
Conveyors are the critical connections between optimal product flow and the required buffering capacity. Reliable conveyor components determine total uptime and cost to keep the line performing at or above required levels.
3) Evaluate water reduction and energy savings
Consider dry-run conveyors for cost effectiveness, water reduction, and energy savings.
4) Total cost of ownership (TCO)
TCO provides an accurate basis for determining the value of an investment — more than just the purchase price alone — and may translate to cost savings by focusing on improving operational efficiency and productivity.
