The Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium’s Energy Buying Group — an energy procurement initiative for industry in Ontario and the largest manufacturing buying group for energy on behalf of Ontario manufacturers — has launched an online reporting and metrics tool to help manufacturers be better informed about their energy consumption patterns and the impact on budgeting and future forecasts.

For more than six years, EMC’s Energy Buying Group has teamed with ECNG Energy LP to provide members with service and support, helping industrial consumers to better manage their energy costs, engage custom-tailored procurement strategies and access the volume benefits of a large, networked group of EMC’s member manufacturers, said Scott McNeil-Smith, EMC’s director of strategy planning and communications, in their recent newsletter.

This new tool allows members to have real-time access to their energy consumption and costing data.

“The energy group has always provided manufacturers with detailed reporting (and continues to do so); however, this new resource will provide energy group members with an added consistency, both with presentation and metrics for monitoring, tracking and analysing (regardless of location), and provide online 24/7 access securely through username and password,” added McNeil-Smith.

According to EMC, the new Online Reporting and Metrics Tool is designed to provide: real-time, electronically uploaded data with report generation (no need for members to manually input data); a single source for utility information (i.e., consolidated budgets, market data, regulatory charges, etc.); benchmarking capabilities (large database of utility information); secure member sign on; paperless, 24/7 secure access from anywhere; convenient dropdown to all of your accounts; historical data provided for relative comparison; and weather modelling and other forecasting tools.
