Jun. 8, 2015 – Tamron has released a tele-photo Vari-Focal lens supporting 3-mega-pixel resolution and NIR bandwidth with P-Iris (M13VP850IR). Available in May 2015, the lens boasts the use of an aspherical element, XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lens, and advanced optical design technology for high image quality that is compatible with 3-mega-pixel cameras at full HD 1080p. According to the company, the lens maintains 3-mega-pixel image quality from the visible to NIR spectrums, which allows shooting video footage without the associated decrease in image quality when the camera is switched to the night mode. As well, the lens offers a wide-image circle that is compatible with 1/2.8-in. and 1/2.7-in. format sensors, which means the lens can be installed in cameras with large sensor sizes, it adds.
