Jan. 12, 2018 - Tobias Kuehnle has been named managing director of Trumpf Canada, effective April 1, succeeding Stefan Fickenscher, who became sales director of the Machine Tool division in the United States at Trumpf Inc., on January 1.

Fickenscher will act as interim managing director of Trumpf Canada until Kuehnle assumes the position. Both will report directly to Burke Doar, senior vice president of Trumpf Inc.

“We are pleased to announce that Tobias Kuehnle will lead Trumpf Canada,” said Doar. “Tobias’ extensive experience within service management and his devotion to Trumpf’s customers make him an excellent choice for the position. Canada is a competitive market for Trumpf and we’ll need a dedicated leader at the helm while we continue to expand the sales and technical services support we provide to customers in the country.”

Kuehnle joined Trumpf GmbH + Co KG more than a decade ago in 2006. He began his career in the service department, holding three additional positions before becoming the head of Spare Parts in 2014. In 2015, Kuehnle became the head of Global Services Sales and in July 2017, he took on the role as head of Product Management and Sales Support Services.

“I am honoured to be appointed to this position within the Trumpf organization,” said Kuehnle. “It’s an exciting time at Trumpf as we develop new and innovative products, and continue to build off a manufacturing model using advanced Industry 4.0 production techniques to improve the efficiency of our customers’ operations.”

In his new role, he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Trumpf Canada, including machine tool and laser sales, TruServices and technical service in the Mississauga, Ont., location.
