Merit Precision in Peterborough, Ont. will receive $1 million from the provincial government to manufacture bottles for hand sanitizer and disinfectant.

The company will invest the funding and another $300,000 in two blow moulding lines, tooling and the necessary infrastructure to manufacture the bottles, which will be filled by Charlotte Products.

Currently, Charlotte Products does not have enough bottles to meet the growing demand for its cleaning products.

This expansion will create 10 new jobs at Merit Precision, an injection moulding company that primarily manufactures parts and components for the auto sector.

The investment is being made through the Ontario Together Fund, the province’s $50-million fund to help manufacturers retool to provide PPE and supplies to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
