Ontario invests $2M for soap manufacturer to re-shore dispenser production

A soap and sanitizer manufacturer in the Niagara, Ont. region is receiving $2 million from the provincial government to re-shore its production of  dispensers.

OPHARDT Hygiene Technologies will create 75 new jobs and retain 96 positions in the manufacture of soap and sanitizer dispensers, to be used in the fight against COVID-19.

With the funding from the province’s Ontario Together Fund, OPHARDT will expand its facilities and move the manufacture of soap and sanitizer dispensers from overseas to Beamsville, Ont. The company will increase production to 300,000 dispensers and one million dispenser drive modules per year in Ontario.

The dispensers will be used in many locations including airports, shopping malls and medical facilities.

OPHARDT, which also produces paper towels and toilet paper, is investing $7 million in this project, which includes purchasing molding, automation and bottle making equipment.
