Autopro Automation Consultants Ltd. has created a scholarship program at four post-secondary educational institutions in Western Canada. The program was developed to recognize and support upcoming industry leaders in electrical engineering, automation, instrumentation, and electrical power and industrial control programs.

Scholarships are awarded based on criteria provided by Autopro, which includes demonstrated community leadership and involvement, financial need to continue studies, and entrance to the second year of studies with a GPA of 3.0 or greater for diploma program students, or entrance to the third year of studies with a GPA of 3.0 or greater for degree program students.

“Autopro established these awards to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to improve the communities where we do business,” stated Jaimee Turner, corporate social responsibility leader at Autopro. “By supporting post-secondary students who are pursuing careers in the fields of engineering and instrumentation, we are investing in a strong future for tomorrow’s workforce.”

A $500 scholarship is available to a student at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) taking the Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Technology program. And $1,000 is set aside for a student in BCIT’s Electrical and Computing Engineering program — either taking the Automation and Instrumentation or Electrical Power and Industrial Control options. At the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), $750 is available to a student studying Instrumentation Engineering Technology, while $1,000 is being set aside for a recipient in the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Instrumentation Engineering Technology program. In addition to this, a $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student in the University of Calgary’s Electrical Engineering program who is taking a minor in Computer Engineering.
