Sept. 9, 2016 – Ricoh has unveiled 12 mm and 16 mm 9-megapixel lenses in an effort to help users capture high-resolution images from within “mere millimeters.”

The lenses are compatible with 1-in. format cameras with up to 9-megapixel resolution. Suitable for industrial and professional settings, the series leverages a floating mechanism to enable low-distortion, high-resolution image capture at all ranges, boasting a point-blank range of 80 mm that yields “quality superior to close-up extension rigs,” says the company. According to Ricoh, the lenses can be used for a variety of visual inspection applications including: reviewing circuit boards for issues; verifying type on printed matter; and inspecting food and pharmaceuticals. These latest additions complete Ricoh’s series of 9-megapixel lenses, which include 25 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm and 75 mm versions.
