MicroPower Direct introduces MPV5080LS DC-DC converter series

Nov. 30, 2016 – Available immediately, the MicroPower Direct MPV5080LS series is a family of 15W DC/DC converters specifically designed to meet the needs of utility scale photovoltaic (PV) applications.

They feature a 200 to 1500 VDC input, which it says allows the use of longer solar panel strings, adding that this in turn reduces the number of combiner boxes required. Four models provide outputs of 5, 12, 15 and 24 VDC. High performance features include 4,000 VAC isolation, and tight line and load regulation. All models are protected for over voltage, over current and short circuit faults, says MicroPower Direct, adding that the series also features under voltage protection, which can insure system stability in the event that the PV system suffers frequent restarts. All models of the MPV1580LS family are packaged in a 4.3 in. x 2.3 in. x 1.18 in. encapsulated case. Each model is specified for operation over an operating temperature range of -25 C to 70 C ambient.
