Humber College and DMG Mori partner on CNC tech and education

October 11, 2018 – Toronto’s Humber College and DMG MORI Canada have partnered to address skills needs for advanced manufacturing tooling processes and engage in applied research.

The five-year collaboration will focus initially on Industry 4.0–enabled five-axis CNC technology (vital to automotive and aerospace manufacturing), and broaden to support outreach initiatives related to education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) over the course of the agreement.

The DMG MORI group is a global manufacturer of CNC machine tools, with a range of products including high-tech turning and milling machines, as well as automation and technology solutions for the automotive, aerospace, die and mould and medical industries.

DMG MORI Canada plans to make significant investments in Industry 4.0 development over the five years, including awards and scholarships, to be named the DMG MORI Awards. DMG MORI will also work with the college to develop education to advance employment pathways and recruitment opportunities for Humber students and graduates.

DMG MORI will now be part of the planned Industry 4.0 consortium that Humber is forming, and their equipment and technology will be featured in The Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation, the college’s hub for bringing industry and education together.
