GAM’s GPL-V and GPL-H planetary gearboxes for robotics offer low backlash

September 3, 2018 – GAM is offering the GPL-V (shaft) and GPL-H (hollow), their lowest backlash (≤ 0.1 arc minute ) planetary gearboxes for horizontal and vertical robotic applications.

The gearboxes are sold and serviced through Electromate. A patented design ensures that the backlash will not increase over the lifetime of the gearbox. Very high tilting rigidity results in excellent positioning accuracy with a rated 20,000 hours, which is over three times longer than comparable gearboxes in the market. The torque range is from 400-3,000Nm, and the gearboxes are available in seven frame sizes from 180-330mm.

The noise level of 65dB makes it ideal for MRI applications where low noise levels are critical. The efficiency is over 90 per cent, allowing for lower power consumption which could result in choosing a smaller motor.
