Jan. 22, 2015 – The Lincoln Electric Company has promoted Steven Hedlund (photo) to the position of president of global automation.

Previously serving as senior vice-president of strategy and business development, Hedlund’s new role will focus on Lincoln’s global automation initiative — a growth program in the company’s 2020 Vision and Strategy that is targeting accelerated growth in sales and profitability.

Today, Lincoln’s global automation offering boasts the industry’s broadest portfolio of automated arc welding and cutting solutions. As president, Hedlund will oversee all strategic, operational and commercial aspects of the global automation organization.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Steve to this newly expanded role,” said Christopher Mapes, chair, president and CEO of Lincoln Electric Holdings. “His contributions, strategic vision and impressive leadership have been invaluable to the organization and to the executive management team. Over the last four years, Steve has led a disciplined acquisition program which doubled our automation portfolio, and I am confident that he will successfully lead the global automation organization through its next phase of growth and development.”
