Automation Systems Interconnect’s DIN rail-mounted terminal blocks use an extrusion technique to remove insulation on wires before connecting them to a control panel or manufacturing equipment. Connection time is reduced by 70 per cent compared to many other connection systems because there is no need to prepare the conductor or tighten any screws, the company says, adding that no extra tools are needed to connect wires to blocks and it only takes a screwdriver to remove the wire from the block. The terminal blocks have a UL rating of 600 volts, 15 amps and accept wires from 20 AWG to 16 AWG. The metallic part of the block, which is made from a special copper alloy, functions as the conducting body as well as the wire terminator. It has the elasticity to withstand up to 50 wire re-terminations. The 6.2-mm footprint is another solution for those panels when space is an issue. The terminal block is available in two versions. The NCS type provides insulation displacement on both sides of the block. The NCV type provides insulation displacement on one side and a screw clamp on the other. www.asi-ez.com

Aug. 9, 2016 - Advantech’s IIoT Automation Group has announced the launch of two new “high performance” wireless solutions, the EKI-6331AN and the EKI-6332GN, describing them as “cost effective” solutions for a range of environments requiring 2.4 GHz (802.11 b/g/n) and 5 GHz (802.11 a/n) channels.
Sept. 22, 2015 - Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced the next-generation SimpleLink SensorTag, a development kit that promises easy and quick integration of sensor data with wireless Cloud connectivity.
Aug. 28, 2015 - The Omega UWBT series of Bluetooth transmitters promise to combine the accuracy of an industrial sensor/transmitter with the convenience of smartphones and tablets.
Aug. 13, 2015 - The GE Predix Cloud claims to be the world’s first and only cloud solution designed specifically for industrial data and analytics.
May 5, 2015 - Weidmuller has introduced two new licensed frequency data modems that promise powerful long-range communications (up to 40 miles) to extend Ethernet networks into difficult-to-access locations. Its design features built into the new wireless Ethernet modems claim to provide dynamic network optimization and intelligent routing for high reliability, lower latency and deterministic power management. They support 360 to 512 MHz and 928 to 960 MHz configurations; can operate in Access Point/Client configuration; function as a network Bridge/Router; or serve as a Serial Server (RS232/485). The WI-MOD-450-E-5W and WI-MOD-950-E-5W modems are ATEX/IECEx hazardous area approved, and offer DIN-rail or wall-mount options. Ideal for industrial networking applications, they integrate with Weidmuller wireless and wired networks to connect remote sensors, actuators and instrumentation to mission critical monitoring and control systems.
